Three Questions

Recently we were posed three questions that appeared in an overseas article regarding development work . Below we would like to take the opportunity to answer them in relation to Development Accord's work.

Melinda visits with CIF

Children are referred to CIF through orphanages, government and non-government agencies or concerned citizens, and many have disabilities, which poses a range of challenges for placement due to Cambodian culture and religious beliefs. But through perseverance and an amazingly talented, committed and highly-qualified team, CIF has seen astounding breakthroughs as whole communities are embracing children in need through family-based care.  I can't describe the blessing it was to meet these people, and the precious children who are positively thriving, being loved and cared for by their new (and not-so-new) families and the community that has enmeshed itself around them.

This Christmas, why not conisder giving your friends and family a DevA Gift Certificate?

It's a great way to get them connected to the work we are supporting in our partner communities in Cambodia and Zambia. They'll also get their own login and password, so they can jump online and track the progress of the donation you've made on their behalf. What better way to get people excited about the DevA concept of sustainable giving, than to let them see it first-hand!

Your Gift Certificate recipient will receive an email containing a DevA Christmas newsletter and their Gift Certificate along with details about how to log in with their username and password.

As always, it's great to be taking the DevA journey with you!

The new roof at Mt. Horeb, Zambia

DevA looks forward to being able to continue to support Mt Horeb through ongoing appeals to complete the church building, which they plan to use not only for services, but also as a community hub as a place for women to undertake cottage industry and as an emergency shelter.

Mt Horeb is also runs a youth club which they are hoping to equip with tools of trade for carpentry, joining and bricklaying.  Pastor Jonah says, "Our youths, when they finish grad 7 and 9 are just roaming about without work.  This causes poverty, there is no other work... If we have these tools it can help train our youth and it can help the community who are facing difficulties."
